The Awards Event

6 months ago, there was snow on the ground. So much snow in fact, that two creatives were stuck indoors. To keep themselves occupied, they set up the Working Class Awards. Hundreds of you applied, 11 fantastic judges battled their way through all your entries, and the best is still to come…

On the 24th June Tigz, Dave and the Working Class Awards will be holding their very first design awards and social night, including the presentation of our highly desired trophies designed by Alex Archer-Todde. There will be an exhibition of the finalists work and we’re hoping to get some goodie bags together for the first 50 people (if you’d like to donate to the goodie bags please get in touch!) followed by a live band after the award giving! A date for your diary – hope to see you there!

The Award Designer ~ Alex Archer-Todde

Alex is a twenty-two year old non-smoking piscean who hails from Bradford, West Yorkshire. He has two sugars in his tea and has an abnormal love for architecture, bold graphics and innovative product design.

As an artist, at the age of twenty-two he has already exhibited his ceramics work in America and had his pieces next to works by Monet and Rodin. He has also curated numerous shows including one at the National Museum in Wales, Cardiff.

With regards to graphic design, he has had his work in over five thousand houses in the Calderdale region, designed CD covers for record labels and a whole load of other stuff.

Networking wise, he started the online ceramics journal sliponline with his close friend Eleanor Snare which encourages the discussion of ceramics and representing it in a different light. He is also on the board of trustees for the ceramics organisation Adopt-a-Potter which funds apprenticeships.

All of this and he’ll be graduating this year
